Checkpoint Systems, a global leader in source-to-shopper solutions, is helping French fashion retailer MAJE fulfil its commitment to protecting the planet, by supplying it with a new range of sustainable labels, made from recycled polyester.
MAJE is part of the SMCP Group, together with other fashion brands Sandro, Claudie Pierlot and de Fursac.
In 2019, SMCP signed the Fashion Pact, a global coalition of companies in the fashion and textile industry committed to improving their environmental impact. This includes three core goals: stopping global warming, restoring biodiversity and protecting the oceans.
Checkpoint’s new sustainable satin care labels, made from recycled polyester, are manufactured in five different locations around the world, including, Turkey, India, China, Tunisia and Bulgaria. On top of being made of recycled materials, the handfeel is very soft. All sites use the same raw materials, printing techniques and quality controls to guarantee a sustainable product with uniform branding, delivering consistency across all product formats.
Speaking about the partnership, Jean Loez, Production Director of the brand MAJE, said: “We chose Checkpoint as our partner because of the complexity of our labelling. Many years ago, our care labels consisted of 2 languages only, French and English. Today, due to our new international stores and the legal standards that we follow, we are using 24 different languages.
“Checkpoint is helping to manage the labelling process in an automated way, creating the layout instantly so that production can start immediately. SMCP has agile business cycles, so our labels must be produced in the shortest time possible at factories located close to our garment production facilities. This helps to reduce transport cost and lead time and improves carbon footprint.
“In addition to the automation of our ordering process, we also required a partner that could offer sustainable labelling solutions. Checkpoint fit the bill and we are now working together to build a green future.”
Barbara De Meester, Sales Director France within the ALS Division at Checkpoint Systems, commented: “We have been working with the SMCP group for over five years, helping to fulfill the labelling needs of the business. In line with its commitment to reducing its environmental impact, we are delighted to be supplying it with a new sustainable care label that helps the retailer meet the goals of the Fashion Pact.”
