DENSO Presents New Barcode Handheld Terminal and Rectangular QR Code!
In 1994, DENSO WAVE, a subsidiary of the Japanese DENSO Corporation, invented the QR code. Since then, the company has been developing QR code solutions. Scanners and mobile computers as well as software and IoT solutions are also part of the product portfolio. In 2022, DENSO expanded this portfolio with two innovations: the rMQR code and the BHT-M70 mobile computer for retail and logistics.
The Mobile Computer BHT-M70
The new handheld has a 4-inch touch display and a physical keyboard. 4G, Wi-Fi, NFC and GPS functions are supported. The device is certified according to the IP67 protection class. The scanning range is up to 1.5 meters.
"The BHT-M70 is extremely robust. It can withstand falls from heights of up to two and a half meters," explains Nicole Edler, General Manager Sales Support & Marketing, DENSO WAVE EUROPE. "The device is particularly suitable for use in logistics and warehouses."
The handheld is equipped with a new decoding engine and a high-density sensor. These facilitate scanning through plastic and scanning dirty or damaged codes.
The rMQR Code
The rectangular Micro QR code, or rMQR for short, is a rectangular QR code which is ISO certified. The rMQR code has two levels of error correction. These restore data if a code is damaged or dirty.
"The rMQR code is much smaller than a conventional QR code. This makes it particularly suitable for labeling narrow surfaces," emphasizes Nicole Edler. "The rMQR code is a brand new development. Some transition time is expected until smartphone manufacturers add rMQR capability to their phones' cameras."
