Expanding Classic RFID Solutions With Mobile Access
Making Everyday Life Simple, Flexible and Convenient
Three Operating Modes for Mobile Credentials
First: Smartphone UID. Via the Elatec Mobile Badge BLE NFC app, the smartphone sends the unique ID (UID) to the card reader. From the card reader, the information is passed to the network, such as a printer.
Second: Virtual credentials. The credential server sends a virtual credential to a smartphone. The smartphone sends the UID to the card reader. The reader sends this information to the network. Integration of apps from partners is also possible here.
Third: Via beacon technology. The network information is sent to the printer. This information is sent from the printer to the card reader. The card reader then requests information by searching for data from a potential smartphone nearby. If a suitable smartphone is in the vicinity, it is informed, for example via a vibration mode.
"The end user is at the center of Elatec's smart solutions. The objective: To simplify everyday life, make it flexible and convenient, and save time and money in the process. An example of the all-round use of Elatec's authentication solutions: Charging an electric car at an EV charging station, access control to the company building, recording time, withdrawals from self-service machines, logging in at the workplace, document management such as secure printing – all this is done via a single authentication medium: the smartphone," explains Janek Grill.
