Expanding Classic RFID Solutions With Mobile Access
Successful Application Examples in the Smart City
1. Convenient Carsharing with RFID, NFC and BLE
An RFID reader/writer has been installed in all vehicles. Uniform and convenient vehicle access is provided via a personalized, RFID-enabled physical or digital customer card. The reservation process is simplified, customer satisfaction increased, and vehicle safety enhanced.
Costly service and handover points for car keys are eliminated. Authentication via RFID ensures detailed user control and prevents misconduct and misuse.
2. RFID-Supported Checkout Systems in Public Transport
RFID read/write modules are integrated into ticket machines for local public transportation. These are used in particular for the sale of bus tickets and can process electronic RFID tickets.
The solution provides a modern and future-oriented POS system for RFID-based tickets. Any illegal use of RFID tickets is ruled out. Legal security regulations are fulfilled.
3. Secure Authentication at Electric Charging Stations
An RFID reader/writer is integrated directly into the charging station. User authentication at the charging stations is performed contactlessly via RFID. Existing RFID cards with the VDV-KA protocol can continue to be used.
In the future, authentication can also be extended to cards with other RFID protocols. In addition, authentication is also possible via a mobile access solution.
4. Flexible Shipment Delivery with RFID
Electronic mailbox facilities are equipped with RFID read/write devices. Registered users can authenticate themselves via RFID and pick up parcels from the electronic parcel station around the clock – and also send them.
Access is provided via RFID badges and cards or conveniently with a smartphone. The system is compatible with all major card systems worldwide. The "all-in-one" solution can be used by both parcel deliverers and recipients.
