The Michelin Solution
Michelin mechanically encapsulates the RFID tags with a rubber layer and installs them directly in tire production. Each tire has a unique digital identifier. The data is read by handheld. Faulty installation is detected automatically.
Every stakeholder in the 'tire' ecosystem has the option of using an RFID reader to read the information on the tags. Data is accessed through a cloud database. Information such as tire type, DOT or declaration of conformity is available. After-sales management, such as recycling, is simplified.
Drivers receive automatic reminders to change their tires. Autonomous driving systems access the data to adapt driving behavior to tire condition and air pressure. Driving safety is increased.
