GERA-IDENT Brings to Life New IoT Innovations

Company Competencies Expanded, Production Capacities Extended and New Products Developed!

Identification specialist GERA-IDENT is adapting to the evolving market situation due to crises such as semiconductor shortages and material shortages: With the acquisition of a new production machine for improved prototype development, the development of innovative sensor transponders and expanded company expertise for in-house inlay production, the company is expanding its product and service portfolio.

Customized Identification Solutions with Passive Identification Technology

GERA-IDENT focuses on customized projects with passive HF and UHF RFID technology. This includes feasibility studies, the development and production of tags, labels and Auto-ID hardware as well as hardware-related integration. Target markets are the manufacturing industry, the packaging industry, and the healthcare, automotive and logistics sectors in Germany and Europe.

"GERA-IDENT's core markets are in a state of upheaval due to previous and current challenges. A key issue for us is to make supply chains resilient, to help shape change and to provide our customers with the best possible support," explains Ramin Hassan, Managing Director, GERA-IDENT.

The expansion of the company's expertise is an important step: the company has been developing and producing its own inlays since 2019. GERA-IDENT is therefore active in production and development processes from the chip to the finished label and is also involved in the latest research. Outdated inlays can be replaced in ongoing projects without limiting performance or changing the infrastructure.

New Developments: Sensor Transponders, and Solar Panel & Windshield Labels

The company is also making further progress for customers beyond inlay production, for example, with the development of new, customer-specific products such as the new sensor transponders.

"Compared to conventional tags, the sensor is not necessarily located in the chip, but in or on the label or tag. This makes the transponders more discrete, more modular and far more flexible to use. Several different sensors can be integrated into one tag," says Ramin Hassan, listing the features of the sensor transponders. "In future, edge computing will be used for internal data filtering and pre-evaluation of the measured values obtained directly on the tagged objects."

"Another innovation is the new UHF RFID solar panel labels. These enable production control in solar panel manufacturing with RFID despite challenging application conditions," continues Ramin Hassan. "In addition, existing technology, such as RFID gates or complex devices for detecting KLT containers (KanBan), is constantly being further developed and supplemented with new components."
