New RFID Products for Applications in Machine Authentication, Medical Technology and E-Mobility!
IDTRONIC is one of the leading suppliers on the Auto-ID market, and develops and manufactures high-end RFID products. With 20 years of experience in the field of RFID technology, the company offers tags, readers, modules and handhelds. In 2022, the solution and product portfolio is extended for new use case and trends for RFID deployment in machine authentication, medical technology and e-mobility applications. This includes the use of embedded RFID readers which offer additional functions.
Machine Identification with RFID
In industrial applications, RFID is used for the identification of components for example. Machine identification with RFID is the next step for companies that already use RFID technology for other applications, emphasizes Patrick Kochendörfer, Senior Product Manager, iDTRONIC: “Industry companies often deploy RFID for access control or time recording applications. Employees already have an RFID transponder for these. Using these transponders to log-in at machines is the next step. For these applications, iDTRONIC supplies RFID electronics or device housing plus electronics.”
Point of Care Terminals equipped with RFID
Another trend is the increasing use of RFID in medical technology applications. For this field, the company offers special RFID readers. “A partner company operates point of care terminals, which function as miniaturized medical laboratories”, explains Patrick Kochendörfer. “For example, Covid-19 tests are carried out at these terminals. In this particular use case, RFID readers have been deployed which calibrate the individual tests.”
RFID integrated in EV Charging Stations and E-Scooters
New use cases for RFID emerge in the field of e-mobility. By 2030, it is expected that alone in Germany there will be over 1 million EV charging stations. “iDTRONIC offers a variety of solutions for e-mobility, both for vehicle and e-scooter manufacturers”, says Patrick Kochendörfer. “Keys for e-scooters are replaced with RFID readers, enabling the use key cards or mobile phones to access an e-scooter. The low power consumption of RFID technology offers immense benefits.”
Additional functionalities are unlocked with the deployment of RFID readers. For example, uniform payment options via credit card can be carried out at EV charging stations independent of the operator.
