Bluetooth Low Energy is a radio standard which allows devices to communicate with each other over a distance of more than 50 meters. BLE consumes less power than “classic” Bluetooth and is less expensive. BLE receivers can be battery powered and emit signals actively or they are battery-less and passive. Since the transmission rate is low, only small amounts of data can be transmitted. BLE offers the possibility of recording the position of customers, users, visitors or objects in a room. Areas of application include track & trace, navigation, payment and customer communication.
