ORM & Machine Vision
ORM stands for "Optical Readable Media" and summarizes technologies based on the transmission of optical waves instead of radio waves. ORM technologies include barcodes, data matrix codes (2D), optical character recognition (OCR), image processing systems (camera) and biometric identification. Barcodes are read and electronically processed using mobile scanners, at scanning stations and camera-based machines. Like QR codes, they can also be read with a smartphone. Powerful machine vision systems are used with machine learning & AI in autonomous driving. ORM applications include authentication, track & trace, supply chain management &warehouse management, and machine vision.
