Neosid Reports on Developments in the RFID Industry

Miniaturization and NFC Readability are Current Trends

Neosid is an electronics specialist that excels with RFID tags in special geometries for metallic and non-metallic objects. Yilmaz Benzer, Managing Director of Neosid, and Matthias Höß, Head of R&D and Project Management, talk to RFID & Wireless IoT Global about the latest developments.

12 Jan 2023 - Product Innovations and Strategies from Neosid

Mr. Benzer, what developments has Neosid gone through in the last four years?

Benzer: In the last four years, RFID has arrived as a technology and has become firmly established on the market. Neosid has since become known as a problem solver with its custom-made transponders. This is because we offer special solutions in miniaturization, readout capability and integration of RFID systems.

What trends can you see in the demand for Neosid's products?

Höß: There is currently a strong trend towards RFID identification in tool technology, which we can satisfy with miniaturized transponders that are fitted into drill holes on tools. With this solution, and in particular the 10 mm-sized transponder NeoTAG® Plug FG/MFG10340, Neosid is well received in these applications. The transponder is NFC-enabled and can be written to and read from a smartphone. Therein lies the second trend: there is an awareness among customers that they can use their mobile phones as readers. Many want to see this implemented in new NFC products. Demand for our NFC-enabled transponders is therefore rising steadily.

How has the Corona pandemic affected Neosid?

Benzer: Neosid has the advantage of supplying everything from a single source - and we are still able to deliver. Thanks to forward-looking partnerships with chip manufacturers, there have been no supply bottlenecks. We can still set up very specialized projects with customers from start to finish, be it in our core areas of tooling, medical and laboratory technology or in other fields. Depending on the requirements of our customers, we change the geometry of the housing or the antenna so that even smaller transponders than we already manufacture are possible.
