New Joint Working Group Kick-Off From OPC Foundation and IDTA

Kick-Off "Asset Administration Shell" (AAS) Working Group on June 5, 2023

The companion specification “OPC 30270 – UA for AAS 1.00” (available at is related to the Industrie 4.0 AAS V1.0. AAS changed in the meantime to V3.0 which is not backward compatible to V1.0 of the AAS.

The joint Industrial Digital Twin Association (IDTA) and OPC Foundation “OPC UA for AAS Working Group” will develop a new version of OPC 30270 and / or Submodel Templates related to OPC UA for Asset Administration Shell V3.0 and compatible.

First concrete use cases should be described and rated. As first use-cases the working group will look at the Asset Interface Description (AID), the Asset Interface Mapping Configuration (AIMC) and OPC UA Server Datasheet. This will provide the possibility to enrich the data in AAS Submodels to interact with and via OPC UA.

Initial co-chairs of the working group are Mark Nixon (Emerson) and Shanthala Kamath (ABB).

The Kick-off Meeting is scheduled for June 05, 2023 as a web conference.
