ShockWatch RFID Tags

ALT Technologies are now working in collaboration with Spotsee, which develops shipping indicators, colour change visual temperature indicators, and recorders covering primary environmental conditions such as impact, tilt, temperature, vibration, humidity, and pressure.

Using RFID best practices and keeping the automotive industry in mind, they have developed a new product called the ShockWatch RFID Impact Indicator. It tracks individual products such as  headlights, instrument panels, glass, calibrated equipment, and brazed radiators along the supply chain. If any damage occurs, the system alerts supply chain managers before the product moves further along the supply chain.

ALT Technologies’ vast experience in the automotive industry and extensive knowledge of labels, and Spotsee’s mastery of indicators and condition-based monitoring enable us to provide high-quality, relevant solutions to our customers.

Benefits of ShockWatch RFID Tags

  • The tags can reduce damage by up to 40-60%. Because it is a proactive tool that helps your business spend less time remediating adverse events, it reduces the need for repairs or replacements. There are also fewer delays, operations disruptions and claims filings, thereby increasing your reputation with your customers.
  • ShockWatch RFID tags are field-armable, tamperproof, and turn red when an impact beyond a specific g-force threshold has occurred.
  • Because workers can read them remotely, they do not require a line of sight scanning. Therefore, you can place them inside a box, crate, or package.
  • On top of quickly identifying damaged goods without a visual inspection, the company noticed a shift in behaviour from supply chain workers because ShockWatch RFID acted as a visual deterrent for inappropriate handling and assigned accountability to supply chain damage.

Together, we can build an innovative and safe future.

  • Polypropylene
  • Polyethylene
  • Aluminium antenna
  • Copper antenna
  • IC-chip
  • Pressure-sensitive adhesives

Technologies

  • Field-armable
  • Tamper-proof
  • Serialised
  • Turn red when an impact occurs and can be scanned with a standard UHF reader.
  • Passive RFID technology is employed in the indicator, so there is never a battery life issue to consider

Application

  • RFID labels are used to reduce supply chain damages by showing that the asset has an impact exceeding the tag’s threshold, whereby the ShockWatch RFID will “activate”.
  • Data from the batches of ShockWatch RFID Tags can be instantly, yet accurately, captured.
  • There is an electronic record of the information. With this data, tracking down trouble spots in the supply chain and implementing process changes to improve outcomes is possible.
