Dear Readers,

This issue is characterized by articles crafted by our team of RFID editors. As always, the focus is on the solutions, technological integration, and specialist knowledge of our well-experienced and thoughtful interview partners.

The overarching view of the contents of this issue takes our conversation to a new and intriguing place. China, the USA, and Europe are in the midst of a competition and race for regulation. In this environment of global dissonance, Europe is trying to find its appropriate place. While the dispute is ongoing, the damage – from an economic point of view – is already occurring. Tune into any news program in the world and you will encounter this topic.

Also in this issue, Siemens is leading the way in 5G technology as they promote numerous solutions and support for the future. The outlook for a new level of IIoT seems tangible.

The automotive supplier Brose is successfully pursuing new approaches in the IT world with forward-thinking digitalization strategies. Factory and IT are merged together to form Smart Factory 4.0. Zebra further demonstrates which products and solutions are available for the automotive industry.

The hospital landscape in Jütland is being restructured. Denmark is thus a prime example of the optimization of the medical infrastructure, the clustering of competencies and the streamlining of administration for the benefit of patients. Parallel to this development, potentials for technological innovations are emerging. How the processes between medical offices and laboratories can be networked more effectively also serves as an example for innovations in the medical sector.

'Partnership' is this issue's strongest concept with regard to all overarching issues. Rather than working against each other, crossing national borders for collaborative projects, exchanging ideas, advising each other and participating in successes together: this is likely our best path forward.

While reading this magazine, we hope that not only will you learn new details about products and solutions, but also gain insight into the experiences, assessments, and recommendations of our interviewees.
