Digitalization in the Healthcare Sector is on the Rise!
The number of active, mobile IoT connections within the European Union is constantly increasing.
While there were just under a million IoT connections in 2017, ETNO, the Association of European Telecommunications Network Operators, expects this figure to rise to almost 440 million connections in Western Europe alone.
Tenfold Increase in IoT Connections by 2025
While the automotive and smart buildings sectors continue to lead the way in IoT connections, the healthcare sector is also increasingly implementing solutions. While the number of active IoT connections in 2016 was still just under 900,000 throughout Europe in the healthcare sector, ETNO expects in its forecasts that the number will increase more than tenfold in just nine years by 2025.
By then, the number of IoT connections in the healthcare sector will already exceed 10 million.
Healthcare Overtakes Retail
The market potential for IoT solutions in hospitals, laboratories and nursing facilities will then clearly exceed even the retail sector - 3.1 million in 2025 - in the number of connections.
