Rinas Presents the LWR Card-Encoding Module

Personalization of RFID, Magstripe and Smart Cards with High-Quality Systems “MADE IN GERMANY”!

Rinas Gerätetechnik GmbH, a family business located in the small town of Aftholderberg in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg in Germany, has developed the LWR card encoding module for RFID, magstripe and smart cards. The modular setup of the LWR card encoding system enables single, multiple, or a combination of all three types of card personalization using customer-specific electronics.

LWR Card Encoding Module Optimized for Smaller Personalization Stations

With a clear focus on professional personalization stations, the LWR processes all three tracks of standard credit card sized (paper and plastic) magnetic cards with both HICO and LOCO functionality. Up to 2900 cards can be processed per hour. Encoded cards can be either continually fed through the device or returned via the input slot.

The robust yet precise construction of the LWR provides easy access to the unit for component exchange, following a “think green” code of conduct with exceptional durability and longevity. The modular setup enables a wide variety of RFID readers to integrated into the LWR. An optional magnetic head withdrawal function enables RFID or smart card processing without unnecessary magnetic head wear. All necessary components can be integrated and present within a single card encoding unit at the same time.

RFID Encoding

An antenna measuring 50mmx50mm can be attached to the LWR. The distance to the encoded cards can be adjusted to range between 5mm and 15mm. An optimum distance between RFID card and antenna is easily accomplished to carry out reading distance tests.

Smart Card Encoding

The individually sprung chip contact pins are lowered by a motor, which solves the problems associated with prolonged contact times. Several contact forms are recognized, such as round, pointed, or wafer-shaped for example. Using contact pins with adaptable spring force satisfies a wealth of combination possibilities. This feature of the LWR by Rinas enables maximum flexibility combined with high quality encoding for customers.

Encoding Procedure for RFID and Smart Cards

The LWR positions the card and sets an output signal. Customer-specific software then begins the encoding process. When the encoding process is completed, a card-eject signal is sent to the LWR. The LWR encodes cards of all colours as well as transparent and embossed cards for the following standards:

  • ISO 7811
  • Visa Mini Card
  • AAMVA (US driver’s license)

The LWR encodes cards with dimensions of 86.7mm x 54.0mm and a thickness between 0.25mm to 0.6mm or 0.6mm to 1.1mm with free bit or customized encoding.
