Engineering Industry Relies on Solutions with RFID and NFC
Increasing Interaction and Improving Customer Service with NFC
The augmented reality video can be used for hinge solutions. It shows how many screw rotations are required. The user is notified of the correct finish by a green check mark.
The augmented reality video feature is an additional selling point and strengthens customer loyalty for the product at the same time.
Direct Communication Channel to the End Customer
Each NFC label is linked to a landing page. The end customer logs in with an NFC-enabled smartphone via the NFC label and accesses additional information such as construction instructions, cleaning steps, videos on correct usage or a link to order new materials. Manufacturers are thus provided with a direct communication channel to the end customer. At the same time, the originality of a product can be proven and counterfeit protection can be integrated. After all, in warranty cases, for example in medical technology, the originality of a product must be flawlessly verified.
The intelligent devices, systems and materials ensure reliable process control. The system automatically informs personnel about sources of error and consequently avoids errors during processing or usage. Real-time access is possible worldwide via a central database. Prompt reactions, for example to upcoming maintenance processes or a machine evaluation of performance, are possible.
As a result, personnel react immediately to variable order quantities and adjust material ordering and production accordingly. Part of the product life cycle can be monitored in real time with NFC and expanded with UHF RFID for tracking in logistics and distribution.
Augmented Reality Video as Assembly Support
As a smart service, it is possible to store a link in the NFC/RFID label for an augmented reality video on the assembly or adjustment of a unit; a sufficiently good Internet connection is required for viewing. An NFC-enabled smartphone scans the NFC label and plays the stored video, which shows how to adjust or parameterize the product. A service provider, for example, can be automatically informed about the minimum stock level of the materials via an inventory write-off of the materials at the machine. This guarantees that the stocks are kept at the agreed level.
