Smart Nameplate for Appliance Labeling

Conventional nameplates with printed ratings and other details are typically used for labeling appliances and machines. However, they lack a capability that should be state-of-the-art in the digital age: storing information and communicating with the user.

Schreiner ProTech’s ((rfid))-IdPlate is now making this possible by means of NFC — in addition to appliance marking, this smart nameplate offers an opportunity for interaction between manufacturers, service partners and consumers.

The smart ((rfid))-IdPlate combines the classic nameplate with a modern NFC label. As a nameplate, it satisfies all the requirements of machine and appliance labeling. In addition, product data and further information, which users may supplement as needed, can be stored on the label-integrated NFC chip. The data can be read by means of an NFC-capable smartphone — in a decentralized process and in real time.

The thin and flexible label can be permanently applied to objects and materials, and even works on metallic substrates. If the ((rfid))-Id- Plate is not supposed to be externally visible on the product the label can be applied to the inside. Reading of the smart nameplate is easily possible even through a thin layer of plastics up to a range of three centimeters.

For manufacturers, the ((rfid))-IdPlate is also an effective tool for integrated Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). In addition, it is an ideal solution for labeling their products, building relationships with various target groups and achieving long-term customer loyalty.
