When clients approach the parking garage barrier in their cars, the barrier automatically opens via the wireless technology of the RFID chip in the label and the system subsequently debits the parking fee using the client’s stored credit card details.
Users have the option of either permanently applying the RFID label to the inside of their windshield or using it on a mobile carrier card.
Solutions Provider for Parking
APCOA was seeking an RFID solution tailored to this specific use case, as standard labels reach their limits here. In order to receive all components, including the carrier card and client mailer, from a one-stop-shop, APCOA wanted to implement the project with a single provider of the total solution.

Applications in the area of smart parking make special demands on an RFID label. Schreiner PrinTrust’s ((rfid))-Windshield Label Global UHF satisfies these demands because it was specifically developed for use in automatic vehicle identification and for mailing to clients.
It is highly resistant against heat and sunlight, which is vital to ensuring long life on the inside of windshields. APCOA clients benefit from the high UHF RFID performance of the chip in all weather conditions.
Due to invisibly integrated, full-surface light protection, the chip – unlike cheap standard labels – is fully functional even when exposed to direct sunlight.
Data security is ensured as well.
The client’s details of the personalized RFID chip are not stored on the chip itself, but, via an allocated individual UID, securely deposited in the back end of a database. The ((rfid))-Windshield Label Global UHF is produced in the high-security environment certified according to ISO 14298 und NASPO Security Printing Standards at Schreiner Group in Oberschleissheim.
