Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: ZBRA) announced Spar supermarkets are using Zebra ZXP Series 3 card printers to print food price cards for in-store displays in real-time in the Netherlands. This new solution reduces the time Spar needs to deliver in-store food promotions for its franchises and ultimately, its customers.
Supported by Zebra’s partner Centric, this deployment marks the first time Spar is using the solution across Netherlands stores. Spar is an international group of independently owned and operated retailers and wholesalers, started with one Netherlands store in 1932 and now comprises more than 12,500 stores in 44 countries covering four continents.
Key Facts
- Using the new Zebra® ZXP3 solution, food cards can be printed in-store, which saves time compared to the previous system. In the past, franchises had to wait up to four days to receive cards from Spar’s headquarters.
- The new card system is proven to be more hygienic than the previously-deployed paper solution, allowing placement on fresh food products.
- In the future, the Zebra ZXP3 will be used by Spar to print food allergy and safety information on price cards, improving its compliance with the EU Food Information for Consumers Regulation (EU FIC).
- Zebra’s card printing solution will also be deployed in Spar 100 outlets, and 150 Texaco garages located next to the retailer’s stores.
