Researchers Present New Use Cases for 5G and IoT Sensors!
The Livestream Think WIOT Day "Industrial IoT + Energy Industry" will focus on the practical applications of wireless IoT technologies. Live demonstrations of the latest 5G and sensor applications directly from the 5G Industry Campus Europe in Aachen and from the laboratory of the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation IFF in Magdeburg will be included for the first time.
When. On April 5th at 10:00 CEST. Register here for the livestream!
Can't make it to the live event? Rebroadcasts are available starting at 09:00 PDT on April 5th and 10:00 AEDT on April 6th! Click your preferred time zone to watch!
Live Demo 1: 5G Industry Campus Europe
At the 5G Industry Campus Europe, the use of 5G in production environments is being researched under real conditions. With an outdoor network of one square kilometer and a production area of 8,000 square meters, the network covers the entire machine shop of the Fraunhofer IPT.
On April 5th, viewers can expect to see 5G machine shop and demo projects. Sarah Schmitt, research associate at the IPT, will present a total of three 5G use cases:
- Vibration measurement in engine components
- Condition monitoring for drilling tools
- Real-time control via TSN with 5G
Live Demo 2: Laboratory of the Fraunhofer IFF
The lecture by Martin Woitag and Olaf Poenicke focuses on sensor-based process monitoring. For this purpose, the researchers have developed a new IIoT gateway: the AirBOX.
Via the gateway, sensors can be interconnected to form a sensor network. Communication within the network takes place via MQTT or OPC UA. Sensor data is collected in a targeted manner and in real time. Secure data transmission takes place via WLAN, Bluetooth, Zigbee or LoRaWAN. Viewers can expect a peek into the laboratory of the Fraunhofer IFF with practical applications of the AirBOX.
