Webinar: How to Track and Monitor FMCG in Supply Chains

Use Sustainable Packaging with NFC for Cold Chain Logistics

TomKat Global Solutions has developed the first 100% recyclable transport packaging for seafood. This innovation is the TomKat KoolPak. NFC sensor tags track the container location and temperature. Use cases include cold chain monitoring and tracking of FMCG. Track-N-Trace Blockchain Developer Alexey Dubrovin explains how the packaging solution works.

Tracking Transport Packaging with NFC Technology

The KoolPak consists of lid, base and thermal liner. Each component contains an NFC tag. The tags enable individual component tracking. All materials are 100% recyclable.

The integrated NFC tags are battery-less. They monitor the temperature and location. Customers read the tag with a smartphone. Information retrieval works with without opening the lid. This feature also provides tamper protection. Using an app, customers track the transported FMCG in the supply chain.

15 Feb 2024 - 5. Think Day Livestream 2024: Wireless IoT Technologies

Did you know? TomKat developed the KoolPak with NFC technology from SAG. Read the article "TomKat Improves Seafood Logistics with Sustainable Packaging and NFC" here!

Use Case: Cold Chain Management

The KoolPak was first developed to transport seafood. Its thermal performance is better than regular polystyrene boxes. Transport of any kind of live, fresh, chilled or frozen product is possible. This includes pharmaceuticals. The KoolPak has a capacity of 25kg. Flat-packing and stacking options enable more efficient transport compared to regular containers.

Alexey Dubrovin presents the cold chain management use case from TomKat Line Fish. The company catches fish near the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and transports it using the KoolPak.

The lecture focuses on:

  • Achieve full transparency – track and authenticate products in the supply chain.
  • Prevent food waste – ensure temperature stability with superior cold chain containers.
  • Be sustainable – prevent waste with 100% reusable and recyclable packaging.
