The Corona Rapid Test at Frankfurt Airport

Entry without restrictions and quarantine obligations – test results in 3 hours!

The company Centogene from Rostock operates a test center and laboratory for the detection of COVID-19 at the Frankfurt Airport. Swabbing and laboratory analyses are carried out at the test center in the immediate vicinity of the airport building. Centogene is cooperating directly with Lufthansa and Fraport.

With the test, travelers avoid restrictions after landing at their destination. This includes the quarantine required in numerous countries in particular. Conversely, this also applies to entry into Germany from certain countries.

Where is the Test Center at the Frankfurt Airport?

The test center at the Frankfurt Airport is located at the passageway between Terminal 1 and the office building 'The Squaire'. The opening hours are Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 19:00, and for Saturday, Sunday and public holidays from 09:00 to 17:00.

How Soon Will the Test Results be Available?

Travelers can undergo a test for SARS-CoV-2 based on a RT-PCR (Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction) after prior registration and payment. This test shows – if desired within 3 hours – whether there is an acute infection with the virus and thus the risk of infecting other people in the immediate vicinity.

How Much Does the Test Cost?

If you would like to be tested, you will have to register online and pay the test fees (currently only possible by credit card). With the confirmation of registration and payment, a throat smear test can be performed at the test center without an appointment. The test results will be made available digitally.

The costs for the test results within 6-8 hours amounts to 59.00 euros. If a faster test result is required, the express service can be booked at 139.00 euros to obtain results within 3 hours.

The Documentation of Proof can be Internationally and Officially Valid!

For an additional fee of 9.00 euros, both test variants offer the option to obtain an official, internationally valid proof of the test results for authorities in different countries. This proof includes the documentation of the travel documents and the identity of the tested individual, and is mandatory for air travel. The passenger bears the cost of the test.

A continuously updated overview with currently valid country-specific information can be found on the IATA website.
