Near Field Communication (NFC) is a data transmission standard based on RFID technology. NFC data exchange takes place over short distances of a few centimeters with a maximum data transmission rate of 424 kbps. The read-device and the NFC chip are paired very briefly. Mobile contactless authentication is enabled as access credentials are transferred. Common applications include contactless payment, authentication, access control and consumer IoT.
