Israeli start-up WalkOut, now re-branded as Flow, has developed an autonomous end-to-end checkout platform that transforms regular shopping carts into smart carts. Cameras, computer vision, and machine learning are key factors that contribute to this transformation.
The device attached to the shopping carts captures items that are added and removed from the cart. These items and their respective prices are shown on the touchscreen. Shoppers can pay using e-wallets or via their credit card on the retailer’s app with a scan of a QR code. With this innovative technology, shoppers can skip long checkout lines and also have access to in-store digital promotions. The shopping experience is therefore improved.
