The WILSEN.sonic.level Ultrasonic Sensor

With the WILSEN.sonic.level, Pepperl+Fuchs offers a battery-operated IoT ultrasonic sensor that has been developed to meet industrial requirements. It records the fill level, the geoposition of the containers in which it is installed and other data such as ambient temperature and battery charge. It transmits this data securely to the Internet.

Its industrial suitability sets the WILSEN.sonic.level apart from other IoT sensors. It has a robust housing with IP66/67 protection and can also be used outdoors at temperatures from -25 to +70 °C.

Easy Integration into the IoT System

Using an easy-to-understand mobile device app for Android and iOS, the WILSEN.sonic.level can be set up for its specific purpose directly on site via Bluetooth® LE. There is no need for time-consuming adjustment of individual sensors via push buttons. The use of standardized LoRaWAN® low-power wireless technology gives users the freedom to choose the IoT platform and software solution that best suits their needs. The WILSEN.sonic.level is not tied to a specific system – it can be integrated into any LoRaWAN® network.

The transmitted sensor data is initially processed in the LoRaWAN® network by the LoRa network server (LNS) and then forwarded to the application server of the IoT platform. A graphical representation and in-depth analysis are performed there.

The WILSEN.sonic.level sensor is ideal for measuring water levels in areas at risk of flooding. It reliably measures water levels of rivers, lakes and flood basins as well as additional information such as temperature and battery status. The maximum transmission distance from the sensor to a LoRa gateway depends on the geographical environment, but can reach up to 15 km in open field. Other areas of application include smart farming, intelligent waste disposal management in smart cities and needs-based replenishment logistics.
