Cleanroom garments are mostly not tracked with RFID. This means that inbound and outbound logistics are validated merely through barcode scanning and managed at bin-level without any item-level visibility. This inevitably leads to item losses and hidden cost. Meanwhile, the sorting, repairing and matching processes are done almost exclusively by hand which make the processes error-prone and time-consuming. Moreover, the life expectancy of a cleanroom garment is about 50 industrial wash cycles before losing the filter ability against ESD. To document these records manually is also time-consuming.
RFID laundry tags and system installations are not often considered an option because conventional RFID laundry tags pose material challenges in light of the harsh industrial laundry criteria and the discomfort which is to be expected to arise from a chunky tag.

The proprietary RFID Yarn resembles a textile yarn and is woven after encapsulation to ensure its flexibility. It uses NXP’s highly sensitive RFID chip to enable long read range performance and a fast read rate among dense tag populations. Efficiency at item-level management is very high. The RFID Yarn is laundry-resistant for up to 100 cycles, high-temperature resistant (peak 210 degrees for 2 min), chemical-resistant and roller-pressure resistant which complies with industry standards.
