After a successful piloting period during summer 2020, Neste Oyj has chosen Stora Enso’s sustainable ECO RFID Tag Technology for their recently launched unmanned Neste Easy Deli stores.
The collaboration enables Neste to lower the CO2 emissions related to RFID tags by up to 40 %.
The co-operation pilot took place in Tuusula, Finland, where Neste opened Finland’s first low-emission service station in July 2020. Stora Enso’s sustainable ECO RFID tags enable automated and unmanned, 24/7 service in the Neste Easy Deli store located at the site.
The award-winning ECO RFID tag technology by Stora Enso allows printing of an RFID label to a renewable paper, without plastic layers and harmful chemicals found in traditional RFID tags. This results in a significant reduction in life-cycle CO2 emissions, which supports Neste’s goal to minimize their carbon footprint.
During the pilot period, the ECO RFID tags proved their performance and the successful collaboration continues by introducing the ECO RFID tags to all the Neste Easy Deli locations during fall 2020.
“With Neste Easy Deli stores we want to offer people flexibility in their daily lives by allowing easy and fast shopping around the clock. Stora Enso’s ECO RFID tags help us to provide this seamless service while supporting our efforts to minimize the environmental effects”, says Jukka Peltoniemi from Neste automated services.
