The Roots: RFID Inlay Production and Chip Attach
The RFID inlay production lines are used to mount chips onto the antenna substrate and to produce inlays for smart labels and contactless cards. The chip attach machines from Mühlbauer are the industry standard for inlay production thanks to ongoing development efforts. Mühlbauer lines make almost 85% of all chip attach lines in use today.
Converting Solutions
When it comes to converting, customer requirements are quite diverse. This means that more flexibility is required by Mühlbauer to satisfy their customers’ wishes. From standard RFID labels to luggage tags, metal tags, pet ear tags, paper tickets, and hang tags – nothing is impossible. Both flexibility in unique product appearance and intricate production layers as well as high volume requirements are met here. Whilst the IL 30000, for example, which converts smart labels, is characterized by low investment costs and fast return on investment, the CL 60000 is a two-line machine for smart labels and smart tickets for high-volume production.
Unique Encoding Possibilities
Encoding lines by Mühlbauer can manage very high volumes. Mühlbauer provides the option to use one line for both electronic information verification and printing specific information for each product with the PL Light. “The possibility of this combined line is unique in the market”, explains Gerald Niklas, Vice President of Business Development at Mühlbauer. “The machine itself is flexible: reel-to-reel and singulated tickets like hangtags can all be done with the same line.”
Software Solution Palamax
The software program Palamax connects every industrial machine made by Mühlbauer. It is Mühlbauer's proprietary Smart Factory software solution, which enables the acquisition of complete production data in real-time. The modular software system enables both the analysis and the increase of availability, performance, quality, and effectiveness – not only of a single machine but also of the entire production hall. Material and maintenance planning can be automated with Palamax, which grants transparency of production flow and optimization of the manufacturing process.
