Apulsetech Develops Business Locally Amidst the Covid-19 Pandemic

Successful Projects throughout South Korea

Apulsetech is an RFID company that manufactures RFID handheld readers. Although having just been established in 2019, the team at Apulsetech has over 20 years of experience in the field of RFID. Considerable challenges were overcome in the last two years and the company has since made a name for itself with the development of local RFID solutions.

A Shift in Focus – From Global to Local Markets

The original goal of Apulsetech was to leave its footprint in global markets. However, this proved challenging when Covid-19 broke out just as the company was established. Christy Cho, Sales Manager at Apulsetech comments, “When we first started our company, we targeted the overseas market and focused on developing and providing our products for those markets. However, since the pandemic hit, we had to change our game plan. This involved the shift in focus to the local markets, that we were originally not prepared for.”

Development in Pharma, and in Private and Public Sectors

For local clients, Apulsetech is able to provide not only the hardware required – like RFID tags and readers – but also a complete end-to-end solution. Apulsetech deployed an asset management solution in the office buildings of a well-known entertainment company in South Korea, provided a condition and materials monitoring solution for the Korean government in an underground environment, and implemented an asset localization solution at the Seoul Samsung Hospital. These are but a few of the projects that Apulsetech has been involved in since 2019.

“We were able to develop our local business offerings considerably during the pandemic. Our projects were successful on the whole and we hope to be able to continue this on a global scale in 2022,” says Christy Cho.

Challenges in the Local Markets

From zero to the go-to RFID experts in South Korea, Christy Cho looks back on the journey that started since 2019: “At the beginning, we did not have a well-known reputation as an RFID reader manufacturer on the local market. However, now, especially after our many projects with Samsung – Samsung Display, to Samsung Engineering and of course at the Samsung Seoul Hospital, our reputation has drastically grown locally. In fact, we are now receiving an increasing number of client inquiries.”

Apulsetech was involved in asset management projects in the construction industry with Samsung Engineering, not only in Korea but also in Mexico and Saudi Arabia. The RFID Terminal Reader a711 was used in these projects.

Projects with Samsung Display involved asset management in Korea, India and Vietnam, where the a711 was also integrated in the solution.

The current product portfolio includes a series of handheld RFID readers, tags, and fixed RFID readers. Whilst large companies like Samsung have their own data collection systems, small companies struggle to do so:

“For small business owners, investing in a data collection system is quite costly. They typically use barcode solutions. We are aiming to provide these small businesses with an alternative RFID solution that is easy to deploy. This is one of the current milestones of Apulsetech,” says Christy Cho, as she looks positively to 2022 as a good year for business development in both the local and global markets for Apulsetech.
